Iritis

Post by Guest »

I was diagnosed with iritis on my right eye 14 years ago and under Pred Forte on-off medication with Timolol 0.5%. I have acquired a secondary glaucoma as a side effect due to prolong useage of Pred Forte. Which means that whenever iritis attacks it is always associated with high Intra-Occular Pressure. I have consulted different eye specialists but there were no concrete diagnosis on what causes it- which is really very frustrating. Two years ago, I went for a Laser surgery to relieve intra occular pressure and to prevent further damage in the optic nerve. But the surgery did not stop the re-occurence of iritis, which I have had countless attacks in the last two years. I'm glad and found this site which broadened my knowledge about Iritis and learn more about it. I would really appreciate if anyone could refer me to a uveitis specialist in Manila, Philippines. Thanks

Please contact the following Ocular immunologist in the in your country. He Is trained by Dr Foster at Harvard and MEEI.
he is now in private practice. indicate to him via EMAIL your problem as I think the contact information has changed from what i am giving you. also indiate that Mike Bartolatz has sent you to him and you need to get an appointment quickly to prevent further loss from glaucoma related to steroid only approach to control of uveitis.

He is a friend and an excellent Opthalmologist. Timolol can cause increase of pressure in Uveitis patients and a change of this glaucoma medication MIGHT be in order. Ahmed valve implantation can solve the IOP issues. STeroids can often cause glaucoma in uveitis patients and therefore when this occurs it is even more important to go to a steroid sparing treatment approach, Dr Roque will be able to do this for you.

Wish you the very best,
