1st attach of Uveitis in 10 years ??

I have ankylosing spondylitis/ HLA B27. Also, had a couple of episodes of uveitis since 1990. Went on Enbrel June of 2004 & since my spondylitis has been under control & no episodes of uveitis. Thought it was done until a few days ago & found my right eye was enflamed. Just had a blood test a few weeks ago & my sed-rate was 3. My question is if my sed-rate rate is normal how would I get a attach of uveitis? Thanks Bill

I don't know. I do know that Enbrel can CAUSE uveitis however. better TNF A blocking drugs for cases of uveitis and AS would be Remicade or Humira. do you have skin rash or GI problems along with the Ankylosing spondylitis? had infection or inflammation preceeding the renewed uveitis?

Mike, thanks for the info. I was just diagnosed within the last year with LPR "silent reflux" & I'm taking omeprazole (Prilosec).Would you consider this a GI symptom? You said that Enbrel could cause Uveitis but before I started taking it in 2004 I had about 4 bouts of Uveitis from 1995 to 2004 while on Indocin. Since taking Enbrel in 2004 to now this is my first time. Thanks again.

I don't know about silent reflux. I have hiatal hernia which causes reflux problems. a GI specialist might be warranted to check out your GI tract to make sure everything is Ok.

see if Remicade could be used instead of the Enbrel which isn't working now.
