Iritis and Naproxen

Post by Cathy Ramalho »

Hi,
This is my first post,it will be a year next month since I've been diagnosed with Iritis. I've been on Naproxen for a month now.My specialist said I will have to be on Naproxen for 1 year. The floaters have subsided a lot,I still have a bit of blurry vision. I went for a BP check and my BP was elevated a lot. I'm on atenolol and before getting on Naproxen my BP was normal and I was going to get off my medicine. But now it looks like its not going to happen. And I've been getting side affects from the Naproxen bloating, gas and stomach pain. I'm just filled with so much anxiety about my BP and side affects. Sorry to vend, just need some advice.
Thanks,

has anyone suggested other classes of medications such as Methotrexate, cellcept or Imuran since the NSAID is causing serious problems with your BP which might indicate problems with your kidneys? are you a young woman who had urinary tract infections prior to coming down the iritis? a condition called TINU can occur which is tuberointerstitial nephritis and Uveitis that occur in young women.

where do you live so that I an suggest an Ocular immunologist for a consultation to figure out what the cause of your iritis is and then how best to treat it. NO medication should make you sicker than you already are and BP along with GI issues would say you need another means of treatment.
