Our Story

Post by cawilson »

HI, my name is Alora and my husband Colt was diagnosed with Iritis when he was younger, in one eye, and now at 23 he has it in both eyes. I am concerned and I am not sure what to do from here. His eye doctor said this is very rare, and it is not going away with medication. He is having blood work done and is seeing a Rheumetoid specialist the end of May. I was wondering if anyone else had the same issues going on and maybe what it could be from? We just want to prepare ourselves. Thanks for your time!

There are over 85 things directly linked to iritis and other forms of uveitis. most often it is related to the HLA B27 gene or to a pathogen. exposure to various bugs can cause GI distress which then triggers the sero negative spondyloarthropathies (forms of arthritis) and the enteropathic Arthropathies (Irritable bowel disease).
some sexually transmitted disease processes can also trigger this as can things like cat scratch disease, Lyme disease, whipples disease, histoplasmosis, sarcoidosis, Juvenile Rheumatoid arthritis, Lupus, and many other autoimmune diseases and pathogens.
Right now treatment will be with corticosteroids. if he is using a generic steroid eyedrop, make sure you SHAKE IT for THREE MINUTES. it doesn't suspend in solution well. then put a drop of the eyedrop in the eye and with the eye closed, press in over the INSIDE corner of the eye to shut of the drain into the sinuses. the taste won't be as bad either. then wait 10 minutes and put in the dilating drop and press in over the drain.
