NY doc

Post by klem »

Hi,
Wondering if anyone knows a specialist for uveitis, scleritis, and AS? Didn't know I needed a specialist but have learned from reading this forum that it would be a good idea. Seem to be a few in NYC but with compromised vision it would be tough to do. I live in the Middletown area which is one hour north of NYC. I presently see an internist, rheumy and eye doc. I would be great to see just one doctor that knew, really knew about AS and the related problems. Thanks.

Klem,
sorry this is so late but my computer crashed this morning. just noted your post.

Dr C Michael Samson is the expert you are looking for. his contact information is on the Specialist list, he is at NEEI. He trained at Harvard under Dr Foster. the next closest would be DR Chu in NJ and Dr Yang on Long Island.

I'll get the information for you and post it here,
wish you the best,
Mike

Mike,
Thanks for the info. I will give him a call. Perhaps a one time visit would do as he's far, have to go through horendous traffic, and I'm not confident that he would know any more about the AS mystery than another rheumy would. Maybe he can work with my eye doc. up here.
This is a remarkable service that must be all encompassing for which we're all grateful.
Thanks,
Klem

Klem,
I live on the West Coast of the USA. So, I really don't know what you are up against in travel to NYC. if it would be easier for you to go to Boston and see Dr Foster at MEEI. He could definitely be a one stop medical service. he is an Ocular immunologist as well as a rheumatologist.

You can obtain contact information from the List of specialists or go to http://www.uveitis.org

Dr Samson is excellent and can initiate proper systemic treatment for you. He looks to the WHOLE person not just arthritis or just uveitis.

Wish you the best,
Mike
