retisert implant

Has anyone had the implant Retisert injected into their eye to help control the inflammation caused by uveitis? I am HLAB27+.

usually the retisert implant is used when steroid sparing approaches to treatment have failed to do the job. if you haven't had input by an Ocular Immunologist/uveitis specialist I highly recommend that you do so. when steroid is placed into the eye it can easily cause cataracts and glaucoma to occur. the surgery is very expensive as well to do the implant. Tell me where you live and I'll suggest an Uveitis specialist nearest to you for a consultation.

Hi MIke, I see Dr. Conway an Opthamologist here in Phoenix, AZ, and had a 2nd opinion by Dr. Ursea in Tucson, AZ. I have been receiving Kenelog injections for over 2 years and seem to always have inflammation. As a matter of fact I just got an injection today, and they seem to last 6 - 8 weeks. My last injection was in June. I also had a shunt inserted into my eye by Dr. Zimmerman my glaucoma specialist due to the rise in pressure the injections have caused. I stay on Predforte every 2 hours, I have tried Prednisone pills, Humira and Imuran all at once at times and they could never totally control the inflammation. Dr. Conway is looking into what avenue to take next, Ozurdex or Retisert.
