Hypophystititis- effects pituatary gland, vision etc

hypophysitis can be caused by autoimmune disease effecting acetacholine, thryoid stimulating hormone etc and is sometimes seen in conjunction with other disease to include Sarcoidosis, Wegener's granulomatosus and other autoimmune disease of the inner ear for example. it is part of Multiple Auto immune disease type 4 if I recall correctly.
if the pituatary gland is swollen it can effect various nerves including the optic nerve causing perhipheral vision to diminish quickly.
