Diagnosis of Iritis??
I have tested positive for the HLAB27 gene but I don't have symptoms of Spondylitis. I do have problems with my eyes or mostly with 1 eye. I am extremely light sensitive and sometimes cannot see out of 1 eye . During my last eye doctor visit, he thought my retina was torn, but the retina specialist said no. Could this problem be Iritis and is it easily diagnosed or would the eye doctor have to know to look for this problem?

Iritis
your opthalmologist has to use a slit lamp to examine your eyes to look for iritis/uveitis.
additionally, a depressed scleral exam is needed to look just behind the iris to look for inflammation of the Ciliary body. Iritis is quite common in HLA B27 positive individuals. Iridocyclitis, parsplanitis and iritis are usually the culprit and all are forms of Uveitis.
