Iritis

Post by CCamp1@Houston.RR.Com »

I stumbled onto this site. Last week our daughter (just turned 20) was diagnosed with iritis. All the tests came back negative. They don't know what caused it. I am really scared. After reading info from the internet, I think I understand it can be caused by an injury. Is this correct? She had a car accident the first week of college. Also, her roommate accidentally threw her contact lens away (the roommate has disposal lens) and my daughter washed it off and used it. I ordered her new lens; however, she had already put the lens in her eye. Could the accident or the dirty lens have caused the problem? We are going to a retina specialist recommended by our opthamologist whom we have used for over 25 years. What should we do next? She is on the eyedrops and we are to see a neurologist to rule out ms. They said they are checking for everything in the text and everything was ruled out. Any help is appreciated.

Trauma

Post by Mike Bartolatz »

If trauma to the EYE preceeded the uveitis, then it could cause it. Since so much testing is going on with the initial bout, is there also inflammation of the middle and back of the eye???? does she have parsplanitis/intermediate uveitis???

we have a list of specialists available for you to use to select from. please consider doing this as these people treat uveitis FOR A LIVING and know MODERN techniques to control inflammation and can often get people to remission from the disease process.

It is difficult to say if a dirty contact could cause this to occur. viruses and bacteria can cause uveitis. if one is suspect then the uveitis specialist can take that into consideration for treatment or do tests accordingly.

I hope this helps.
