first day with Iritis

Post by Joe »

Came down with symptoms 3 days ago. Learned today that I have Iritis :( I am so hapy to find this site :D I'll try to make this as short as possible. I am 42 years old and have had two back surgeries because of bad disks. had diverticulitis 2 years ago, since then i get abdominal cramps. in june of this year i was hospitalized for high fever and fatigue My liver leavels were all out of wack. after a month off work, up and down with the "liver" problem, the doctor determined that it was some type of viral infection. eventually it cleared up and my blood work was normal. went for Gastric bypass last month, and the doc found massive scar tissiue. he had to remove all my intestines and organs(so I'm told) and clean out the fibrus material. By pass could not be done because of the scaring on my intestines. NOW IRITIS. Sorry bout shouting. I'm starting to wonder if this isnt all connected? I saw on this board someone talking about a medical survey, but i cant find it. Any help or ideas would be greatly appriciated.
Ok I just found the health review questionaire on the general board. I'm not reading to well today 8) . Thanks Mike.

Mike,
your GI complaints could well be linked to your Iritis in that the Enteropathic Arthropathies (GI stuff like Chron's disease etc) are related. you might want to read about this in our sticky notes in the General discussion forum as well is in our MEDICAL Links to information. Various forms of arthritis are linked to uveitis (Iritis is anterior uveitis) I suggest that you get an appointment with an Ocular Immunologist if at all possible as Uveitis related to Chron's or other forms of systemic disease can be very difficult to control with just steroids. Immunomodulation is often required to prevent vision robbing consequences of uveitis in these patients. please let me know where you live and I'll try to provide contact information for one of these very rare specialists.
You might also want to join the following support group affiliated with Harvard Medical School in Boston. It has many individuals from around the World with various forms of Uveitis related to systemic Illnesses.

wish you the very best,
