Hello! Another Newbie

Post by Roz »

I just found your site after doing one of my occasional searches on my eye disease: I have Fuchs Heterochromic Iridocyclitis in my right eye and a thread came up on Google by someone with the same disease from here.
I'm in Leeds, UK, and am treated on the NHS.
I had a cataract operation in late 2005 and then a trabeculectomy glaucoma operation two or three years ago. The sight in my eye has deteriorated quite a lot. My current medication is Cosopt twice a day, Xalatan once at night, Vexol (being reviewed) and just temporarily, Diamox, as my pressure is at 35. I'm being checked out again in early August.

From what I know, Fuchs is a disease with the following characteristics. Eye discolouration, cataract possibility, secondary glaucoma possibility, floaters and inflammation. I appear to have the lot!

Good site - glad to have found it!

Welcome to the group!
any chance of seeing one of the REAL experts in the UK trained to treat this to prevent long term consequences of your iridocylitis? it sounds like you most likely have developed steroid induced glaucoma as a cause or perhaps closure of the 'angles' related shed of pigment causing glaucoma.
there is an expert list at http://www.uveitis.org in the PATIENT information section of the site on the INTERNATIONAL specialist list. these doctors of opthalmology are Professors there in the UK. Professor William Ayliffe in London is the BEST in my lay opinion.

wishing you the very best,
