It wont go away! HELP

Post by kelly.ireland »

Hi,
My name is Kelly and have had Iritis/Uveitis? since Oct 2009.
It started one morning in my left eye, the worse pain I have ever felt! Went to eye casulty were they gave me drops and dilating drops. After two weeks returned to be told its also in my right eye and to carry on with drops.
When I returned another two weeks later I was told it was gone and that I could go! two days later I was back. Treatment was started again. I have had blood tests for HLA B27 which were negative. Had more blood tests for calcium, syphilis and something else but cant remember! and had a chest x ray and pictures of my eyes. All the questions they ask are a "no" have no joint problems,no rashes no scratches.
I am due back to hospital on 1st march to see specialist and to have a field test?
I can now see cells floating in my eyes and my eye sight is much worse, I have to wear my glasses all the time.
I am just so fed up of no answers I have been doing the drops but if honest I do forget them, I have been doing them since oct! I just dont know what to do. The doctors talk to themselves then look at me! They have asked me to come in on students days because they have seen so many thing wrong! But dont explain.

If you can help I would be great.
Many Thanks
Kelly

Boy it sounds like you have pan uveitis going on now rather than just iritis with all the gunk floating around.
did they do any pathogen tests like Lyme disease, toxocardia, cat scratch disease, leshmaniasis, leptospirosis ?
any other HLA markers mentioned that might explain this? do any of your family members have a history of any autoimmune disease of any kind?
I think there is an specialist on Dr Foster's list in Ireland. go to http://www.uveitis.org PATIENT INFORMATION section and look on the INTERNATIONAL specialist list. if not, can you travel to London to see Professor William Ayliffe?

please join us in our GENERAL discussion forum for continued questions.

wish you the very best,
