What is a Uveitis Specialist

The above link explains in detail what a true expert in Ocular Inflammatory disease processes is. One reason that we recommend such an expert is that rarely are General Practice doctors, Internal medicine specialists or pediatricians are rarely educated in the links between various diseases and forms of Ocular inflammatory disease processes. often the general opthalmologist won't order tests related to things linked to Iritis for example or know what genes are linked to various autoimmune disease processes leaving it up to the 'attending physician' to order such tests. Thus, critical testing for related conditions doesn't get accomplished.

We are here to help you find expert care but in most instances there will not be a true expert in your local community. A link to an international specialist list and one for the USA is contained in the above link.

wishing all the very best,
Mike

Is there a directory of uveitis specialists on the site? I've been looking for a specialist in the Indianapolis area who will accept catastrophic health insurance. My current doctor is somewhat familiar with the disease but it seems like I know as much as he does from reading online.
