Iritis and contacts?

Post by AbbyP »

I was just wondering if anyone else noticed anything with their contacts and iritis. For me, from the time it starts to flare up, and when i get into the doctor again, it seems like my contacts worsen it. Even if the redness goes away, and my eyes feel fine again, i put my contacts in and it flares up.

Note: I'm talking about beofore i get into the doctor - so when i am NOT taking the steroid drops

you can ask DR Foster about this at http://www.uveitis.org

usually people don't wear contacts while in a flare up of uveitis especially when iritis is present. then they return to use once the eye is quiet. but, as long as you use good hygiene and replace your contacts as recommended, replace your contact case and solutions every 90 days and replace your eye makeup at about 90 day intervals they shouldn't be a problem. just make sure you clean them very well as a steroid environment can allow bacteria to go crazy contaminating the contacts.

Take care,
mike
