Hashimotos and iritis
Today my uveitis specialist told me he thinks my bilateral iritis is related to Hashimoto's thyroid and psoriasis. Anyone else have these autoimmune connections? I think I need to more aggressively treat my thyroid disease...get tsh down to 1.5. my GP has been undermedicating me for years. iritis is slowly improving, but I want to ensure it doesn't become chronic, any othet Hashi folks here?

Re: Hashimotos and iritis
Hashimoto's, Psoriasis and iritis are linked to the IL23R receptor that triggers inflammation. If you have moderate to severe Plaque psoriasis the drug Stelara which blocks the IL23R receptor MIGHT calm things down. one must try other drugs such as Methotrexate without relief in order to get the Stelara approved however.

Thanks Mike. The puzzle is my psoriasis has been well controlled for msny years. But, apparently that doesn't matter as the gene is still present. So, if i come off steroids and rebound, my next step might be methotrexate? Just thinking ahead?
