Hello. I had a case of acute iritis/uveitis in June. It started in the right eye and then the left. It was treated with Durezol and went away, but came back in a couple of weeks. This time it was treated with PredForte and cleared up. It hasn’t come back since. Today (10/24) the eye doctor says he sees very little inflammation. My problem is that I still have blurry vision and see halos around point sources of light like headlights and traffic lights. I’ve had 2 eyeglass prescriptions in the last three months. I asked the eye doc if there was damage to the eye. He said the retinas are fine and sees no other damage. Could the iritis still have effects on vision even after the episode has passed?
HLA-B27 antigen test was negative. Also had ACE and serum lysozyme tests done. The ACE was 34, which seems to be normal, and the lysozyme was 9.6 mcgmL which also seems to be normal. So I don’t think I have sarcoidosis. Also had Lyme disease checked and that was < or = 0.90 which seems also to be normal. Tests done in August: Rheumatoid factor in normal range, ANA negative, ESR (sed rate) only +1. T Palladium (syphilis) negative.
BTW I saw your reply from Aug. 22 to my first post of Aug. 17. (I didn't check the site for 2 months when I didn't see a reply for a few days.) I will consult with the 2 specialists you mention. Do you have any advice before I head down to Miami? Thanks again.

Re: Post-Iritis Blurry Vision and Halos
you shouldn't be having vision problems related to iritis as long as things are quiet. the halo's are usually related to either glaucoma or from cataracts. often very small and dense cataracts form with uveitis or from steroid use which MIGHT explain what is going on. corneal opacities could also cause some of this so going to Miami to see either DR Janet Davis or Victor Prez might be able to tell you why you are having difficulties.
sorry it has taken so long to respond but I have been away without computer access for several days now.
wishing you the very best,
Mike
