New to iritis

Post by Cathyb »

Hi there, I am 21 years old and living in Canada. In the middle of August, I had my first bout of iritis. It was fairly severe, but I was relieved to find out that I did not have pinkeye. I am now dealing with my second bout of iritis, in the other eye (which flared up immediately after my first inflammation had gone away). Now I know that I would MUCH rather have pinkeye- it's much easier to get rid of! I don't have any disorders that could be contributing factor to the iritis (that I know of) so it seems to be developing on its own.

I was wondering if you could suggest a naturapathic remedy to supplement (or replace) my Prednisone eye drops. They seem to have built up in my system and now even my breath smells bitter, like the drops! I have read online that Belladonna may be used, but the only way that I have found to gain access to it is by being under the care of a naturopathis doctor. I would love to do so, but all the naturopaths I have found require new patients to do a bunch of tests to determine overall health, which cost about $400.

I am really hoping that I never have to deal with iritis again, but both my eyes are currently aching and I have a feeling I'm about to get a double whammy.
Thank you for maintaining this great site, it has been very informative and helpful!

I know of no naturopathic means of stopping your uveitis. because there are no double blind placebo controlled trials, only anecdotal BS about these things, we do not talk about them here.
uveitis that ping pongs between eyes is most often related to the HLA B27 gene. it can be very difficult to control and prevent from causing serious loss of vision if not aggressively treated. sometimes adding a Non Steroidal ANti Inflammatory DRug such as Celebrex, Dolobid (difusinal) or Naproxen can break this cycle of recurrent and blinding uveitis. the enteropathic arthropathies and the sero negative spondyloarthropathies are also relate dto the HLA B27 gene. get checked for it. there is a list of specialists available at http://www.uveitis.org in the patient information section of the site. go there an look for the closest one near to you so that your uveitis can be adequately treated.

wishing you quiet eyes,
mike
