New to forum- not iritis

Post by Floridagal »

I have experienced iritis in both my eyes so many times I lost count over the past 2 decades. I had a reprieve for the past 5 1/2 years with no flare ups. This past November I experienced another episode. I tested positive for HLA B27. Iritis cleared with use of Pred Forte and Cyclogel use. The pain diminished but never quite went away around the eye socket. I am returning to the eye doctor tomorrow to check my eye and pressure. It is not red, but the pain is excruciating! Waiting for a referral to a rheumatologist to look into the episodes of pain in back, knees, and ankles which make it difficult to walk and move. History of migraines and am Hypothyroid. Looking for answers... just desire to feel well and function well.

please contact Dr Janet Davis, DR Albini or Dr Perez at Bascom Palmer for evaluation and treatment.
have you every been on NSAIDS such as Celebrex, Difusinal or Naproxyn at prescription strength for about six months to see if this will help retrain your immune system from attacking your eyes? I assume you know which conditions are associated with the HLA B27 gene. other Genes such as the IL23R and ERAP1 genes can also be at play here explaining why you have the autoimmune thyroid disease and possibly ankylosing Spondylitis along with the HLA B27 gene.
contact information for the doctors can be found at http://www.uveitis.org in the PATIENT information section of the site on the SPECIALIST LIST
you may require other classes of drugs to prevent the underlying autoimmune disease from worsening as well as to keep your eyes quiet so that vision is not permanently lost.

Wish you the very best,
Mike
