Re: Iritis and jetlag

Uwe- Get proper treatment for your vision BEFORE you have kids. Yes, Humira kicked the crap out of Uveitis for me. I didn't get it before I was legally blind, with only a ten degree visual field. I have two children, ages 11 and 7. I wish I knew what they really look like. I wish I knew what my husb...

Re: Iritis and jetlag

Uwe- I don't know anything about jet lag. Last time I had it, I broke both eardrums on the plane, but had no eye disease at the time. I can't fly... As for preventing flare ups, the only way to do that is to get the immune system under control WITHOUT steroids. I use Humira for this, and it is used ...

Re: Am I clutching at straws?

When I used steroid drops alot a few years ago, I often noticed strange smells. I cannot recall if Maxidex is a steroid or not. I do recall having strange smells come to my nose, tho, with many drops and some pills I have had to take. I have not noticed that there was anything dangerous going on; so...

Re: I'll be Back on Top SOON!!

Mike- Aj, Chris and Amanda say Hi. Everyone is fine. I have heard of some folks having the Uthoff's symptom when there is a little shock to the system. Working hard enough to sweat, whether it is hot enough to cause the symptom or not, and then drinking ice water has caused that symptom in some peop...

Re: I'll be Back on Top SOON!!

Mike- Make sure to pay close attention to your inner ears, as well. My problem ended up being my inner ears. Valium helps the constant vertigo a lot, as does balance re-training therapy 9 which I absolutely LOATHED!) and dancing, believe it or not. I discovered the dancing last fall, and it has made...

Re: Am I clutching at straws?

Hi, There! I would suggest asking about a DMARD drug first, (one of the more common ones for Psoriasis is Plaquenil) and if it did not work, ask about Humira. It is an injection, taken every other week. It is extremely common to get a little rash or swollen area around the injection site. Take some ...

Re: Am I clutching at straws?

sickeyes- Psoriasis definitely causes Iritis and other forms of Uveitis as well. If you can bring the Psoriasis totally under control, you can bring your Iritis to remission. Iritis/Uveitis does NOT heal itself without proper treatment. I wish I'd known that a lot sooner; if I had, I would still b e...

I'll be Back on Top SOON!!

Hey Yall!! I just learned that I am allowed to practice as a Certified Nurse Aide, or other Nursing profession in my state, as long as I re-certify. A ten-degree visual field does not preclude me from working! I asked. My VR counselor from DBVI is going to help me get what I need to do that, and hel...

Failure Tastes Bitter

Hi, Yall- Back in February, I opened a website, called Smarte-Lit.com. SInce then, I've had exactly five hits on the site. Today, I will close the site, as I have had no orders- not even a nasty-gram about the sample work. This was not a viable business opportunity. I will do something else with my ...

Re: Am I clutching at straws?

sickeyes-- Inflamed/infected gums can cause bouts of Iritis/Uveitis. Anything that causes bacterial infection- hence stress on your immune system, can cause a flare. This is not necessarily common knowledge. DOn't ever apologize for asking a question. The only dumb questions are the ones not asked, ...

Re: cataract AFTER iritis?

Red- Your Iritis will not make your BP worse. SOme meds, and even some diseases, can shoot your BP. Chronic or severe acute pain will shoot your BP up. Stress from worrying about your Irits and the things you still need/want to do, will make your BP worse. Steroid drops do cause heache in some folks...

Re: cataract AFTER iritis?

Red and Blue- There is a software application available for those of us with vison impairment/blindness, called ZoomText. It is the only reason I can use the computer. I am a writer, free-lancing these days, and it is what allows me to work at what I love most, except for being a mother and a wife t...

Re: cataract AFTER iritis?

Red and Blue- Do you know how long your eyes have been inflamed? Are you seeing a specialist in Uveitis? Have you been taking systemic steroids? Have you spent a lot of time in the sun in your life without wearing shades? All these things can be factors for cataracts, and for having a good outcome w...

Re: Sorry for my Absence

Hey, Mike I test negative or normal for everything you mention. My kidney stones seem to be related to certain types of salt, including table salt. No Hungry Man dinners for me. $uck$- I like th weird chicken and mashed potatoes... I don't understand why cactus does well there. Too cold for the trop...
