some news

Again I am doing well with the prednisolone. I will be off the meds in about 6 days. However Doc. Sue is trying something new (at least for me). I'm going to go on acular 2x daily for a month. She feels this will [hopefully] stop the iritis from coming back so quickly. Have you heard of acular? At t...

Well back at it again!

Arrgh! It's back AGAIN. It came on a bit different this time, a good twinge Friday afternoon but no redness until the next day. Of course, as stubborn as I am, I waited for the redness to confirm it (though I might be having a stress headache after a hard day) and wound up with a case around ...

Well in the midst of a very minor flairup

I'm having a slight flair up now, but other than the slightest twinge on Saturday there has been no pain. There is a little redness, but is responding to the steroids. I'm not even in need of dilation meds as there is no pain and hardly even any sensitivity (and with our sun here in AZ in the summer...

The Results are in!

Mike, Got my blood work results today. All tests came back normal. Looks like we're back to valley fever or allergies as the trigger. It's good to know none of the other things showed up. BTW I'm off the meds and my eye seems to be ok (knock wood). Maybe finishing the meds on a Friday the 13th will ...

Well I get blood work done tomorrow

I had another minor flare-up this week so my eye doctor ordered blood work (CBC, ESR, HLA-B27, & ANA). She feels that nothing will show up. but she wants to be sure.

As of now my eye is clear again and I will be off the meds in a week.

I'll let you know what I find out next week.

Welcome

Little House, I'm sorry to hear about your son's difficulties. I am a special education teacher in Arizona and am just over my 3rd bout of Iritis. If your son is having a hard time with reading, I would ask the school if they have the reading selections on a tape or CD. Many of the textbooks come wi...

Say Dr. Sue today...

...she says my eye is clear. There are no cells to be seen. I just need to go through the process of getting off the meds. That should be done by next Wednesday or so. I stop the dilation drops on Friday (I am down to 1x daily) and am scaling back on the steroids a little at a time. Hopefully it wil...

Mike's advice is dead on

Glittle, I hope the recovery is continuing. Mike's information is dead on and has been very helpful to me. I too was very concerned during my first bout but Mike and my Doctor taught me a lot about what is taking place and how to work with it. The blurry vision and such should (hopefully) be gone sh...

Thanks for the encouragement

Mike, Thanks for the encouragement. I am continuing to improve. The redness and soreness is gone. I'm on the prend. every 2 hours (1 drop) and it worked a lot quicker than the other stuff. I'm shaking it up like you suggest, but it's hard to believe that little bitty bottle needs 3 minutes of shakin...

It's baaaccckkk...

Well my iritis came back on Monday. Started the meds per my eyedoctor on Tues and got in to the doc Wed. afternoon. Doc. Sue says it's fairly minor this time, as opposed to my occurrence in March. She also said I caught it early and starting the meds kept it from getting worse. She did change my med...

Well things are getting better

Saw my eye doctor last night. Things continue to improve. I am starting to cut back on the Lotemax (4x / day now) and will be able to stop dialiting my eye after tomorrow. No contacts though for another week or so. She also confirmed that my childhood case of Valley Fever (30+ years ago) is most lik...

New here but in at least round 2 of iritis

Looks like I qualify to join the club. I'm in the middle of my 2nd severe bout on the right side. Doc has me on Lotemax(sp) and homatropaire. This one started up while I was off in Cyprus presenting at an autism conference and I couldn't do a thing about it unitl I got back to AZ a couple of days la...
