Great News! And Not so Great...
Hi, Yall! Saw the eye guy today. I am UVEITIS FREE!!!!!! Thank you, Humira!! The light sensitivity, appearance of spots and floaters is due to severely dry eyes. My corneas are actually cracked. I received my first ever set of tear duct plugs today. I go back in three weeks for evaluation of that, a...

Re: Kidney Stones and Swollen Feet. Anyone Else?
HI, MIke! No, no one took pulses in my feet, though there was some poking and prodding. I will ask about tests on my heart next time I see the doc. I finally got back into shoes after a week. Went to the eye guy- and hour and twenty minute ride one way, and my feet were starting to swell again. I ne...

Re: Kidney Stones and Swollen Feet. Anyone Else?
HI, ALl. Well today my feet were finally back down to their normal size. No one knows the reason why my feet swelled that way. PCP is baffled, was supposed to call back, but never did. Urologist refused to see me- said it had to do with circulation, not my kidneys, even tho I didn't have it til the ...

Kidney Stones and Swollen Feet. Anyone Else?
Hi, Everybody! As many of you know, I just had a bout with kidney stones. I passed both stones this weekend, without needing any surgery or lithotripsy. YAAAAAAAYY!!! Right? Right! Here's my problem. My feet and ankles are so swollen I cannot put my shoes on. My feet are not quite double their norma...

Hello and Welcome!
Hi, Yall! I just wanted to welcome everybody to the group. I also want to encourage everyone to post, ask questions, read, lurk, and make friends. We are all in the fight to save vision together. If we don't talk to one another and make friends, we are poorer for not having as much support in this f...

Re: Can symptoms of iritis (with HLA-B27) eventually dissipate?
Mike- Am making a list to take to Dr. and ask about. If Medicare won't pay for them- it would not pay for HLA-B27 test- I have to find out how much they cost. May have to have one every other month or something, just to rule stuff out. These tests can be quite expensive, and Medicare is quite stingy...

Re: If You Have a Problem
Hi, Mike! Just got in from the Uro. FINALLY got some pain meds. Ugh. Took a regular Xray of my abdomen, to see if the stone is large enough for lithotripsy. HE promised that even if I need lithotripsy, I won't get a stent. YAAAAAAY! I HATE stents- they are absolutely BRUTAL. If none of the stones ca...

Re: Can symptoms of iritis (with HLA-B27) eventually dissipate?
Mike- You are so kind. I was at a little bit of a low point. Your kind words made my day, friend. Everybody's life sucks to some degree. How much we LET it suck, however, is entirely up to us. Sometimes, it's going to be worse, sometimes better. All things considered, I am quite lucky to be where I ...

Re: If You Have a Problem
Dear Mike- Several important issues led to me reschedule my appointment for today. First and foremost, I did not enough gas for a 175-mile round trip. Secondly, I have a kidney full of stones and am in terrible pain. I see a Urologist tomorrow. What cash I have I need to use to get meds for that doc...

Re: Can symptoms of iritis (with HLA-B27) eventually dissipate?
HI, Claudia! I live in Virginia, USA. Sorry to hear about the oilspill. HAve you tried a little amber or cedar incense, or lavender or violet when you meditate? I find that the scent is helpful in getting me to a meditative state and in reducing stress. I'm glad I could help a little bit, anyway. I ...

Re: Can symptoms of iritis (with HLA-B27) eventually dissipate?
Hi, Claudia! Nice to meet you. No, Irits does not 'burn itself out', but under-treating it will burn out your vision. Are you on meds for your HLA-B27 arthritis? Iritis is directly related to this. Proper meds, rest and diet are all very important in getting the disease to REMISSION- no flares, off ...

Re: Enlarged Pupil
Hi, Lauria! Enlarged pupils can last for weeks after stopping homatropine, especially if you took it for a while, or at a high dose. Iritis also can cause the eye to become "stuck", because the iris can stick to the lense of the eye. Your doctor should be able to help you with this. Is you...

Re: Dose NSAID treatment really work
Scotty- NSAID treatment does have side effects for some people. I have to admit i have never heard of male fertility issues with it, however, I would think that the sperm count would come back up if the patient tapered off the drug for awhile. As for stomach/bowel problems with NSAID use, your doc c...

If You Have a Problem
Hello! I saw my PCP today. As many of you know, I have not been in active treatment for my Uveitis for over a year now. I have a painful flare going on now. I had a problem, believing I could not go back to my former eye guy b/c of a bill I screwed up that got sent to collections. I told my PCP abou...
