Methotrexate

Hi! Has anybody been put on Methotrexate??? My rheumatologist suggested in for me because I have chronic iritis. Between he and my ophthalmologist, I've had all kinds of tests but none of them have shown that I have any kind of autoimmune disease. I'm a little nervous about starting this new med bec...

Re: Chronic Iritis

Thanks for your suggestions Mike! In answer to your questions, I'm 48 years old (I guess that doesn't qualify as "young" :D ), don't have a history of bladder infections, and I only have iritis in my right eye. Although all of my tests have come back negative, my ophthalmologist has been w...

Chronic Iritis

Hi! I was diagnosed with Iritis about a year-and-a-half ago. I've had all kinds of tests to see if I have an underlying cause to my iritis but so far the doctors haven't found anything. When I have a flare-up, I'm usually on prednisone drops for about a month. Within 2 months after that, I have anot...

Re: Is this normal?

Thanks Mike!

I think my next step is to make an appointment with one of the specialists you suggested. It is scary to be on steroids for an extended period of time! I appreciate your help!

Is this normal?

Hi! I'm fairly new to Iritis. I was diagnosed with iritis at the end of February this year and now I'm on my 3rd flare-up. From what I've been reading in the forum, it sounds like most people don't have flare-ups this often. My opthamologist has run all kinds of tests but has not been able to determ...

Re: Seeing a Specialist

Thanks Mike ~ your response was very helpful! At this point the uveitis is only in one eye and I've only had adhesion one out of the two flare-ups so far. My doctor did do the HLA-B27 test but it was negative. I do have a cat so I should probably get tested for the Toxocara that you mentioned. My ey...

Seeing a Specialist

At what point do people move from an opthamologist to seeing a specialist? My opthamologist knew immediately that I had iritis and, when I had another flare-up just two months after finishing treatment, ran all kinds of bloodwork. All of the tests have come back negative so we don't know why I have ...

Just an introduction

Hi Everybody! My name is Sara and I'm fairly new to Iritis. I was diagnosed this past March (2011) with Iritis. Two months after I finished the prednisone treatments, I had another flare-up which meant another round of prednisone. My opthamologist has run some tests, but so far he hasn't found an un...
