Re: What to expect when tapering?

Hi Linda, No problem at all...I responded to your email :) maybe what happens on this site is people get into remission or cured for the most part, and they want to forget everything related to this dreadful condition, so they never come back :) Another theory... they read the horror stories and it ...

Re: What to expect when tapering?

Hi there again :) Had a visit today with specialist, and some good news is the inflammation is way down, she said no cells. But, the Durezol has caused my IOP to soar into the 40's. Hence, I am now on a new tablet 2x a day and 2 new drops 2x day to bring the pressure down. I have to follow-up next w...

Re: What to expect when tapering?

Hi, I am on 15mg now of the oral pred and decreasing 2.5 each week. I didn't know they had Lotemax ointment...I will ask her about that on Monday. It makes sense to use some type of ointment for the overnight hours. I was referring to the Lotemax gel drops that my doctor felt were not strong enough,...

Re: What to expect when tapering?

I am still tapering on the oral pred. I see my specialist this Monday the 15th. I do have Lotemax but not currently using it as my Dr said it was not strong enough. I have heard of a type of ointment that some people described on this site that they used for night use as it continually treated eye d...

Re: What to expect when tapering?

Hi Hudsongirl! So glad to hear about your eyes! That is great news. I have not been on in a couple of weeks, as I started a new job. From my last visit with specialist I have been doing Durezol every hour, and still on the oral pred. For the most part the eye as been behaving but not improving to th...

Re: What to expect when tapering?

Hi,

On the Amsler Grid, the lines are straight for me.

The Durezol is a lot stronger I can tell already, feeling a slight sting when I drop. My eye feels a little better after using it every hour today...feeling positive.

Hoping your appointment goes well tomorrow! :)

Re: What to expect when tapering?

I finally saw a uveitis specialist today, from the list that studied under Dr. Foster. She is wonderful. Dr. Joan Lee. I had 3+ cells and mild CME. She felt that Lotemax was not quite strong enough for my situation, and switched my drops to Durezol. She also gave me the paperwork to get all of the b...

Re: What to expect when tapering?

I think the drop from 20mg to 10mg was too much too soon. I was on 20mg for 14 days prior to decreasing to 10mg. On day 3 of 10mg my eye started getting red and achy and my lid felt heavy (yesterday)...no improvement today. I fear it is just going to get worse. Perhaps 2.5mg decrements spaced 2 week...

What to expect when tapering?

Hi, I am currently in the first couple of days tapering from 20mg to 10mg prednisone. This is my first time with iritis and first time tapering prednisone and I was wondering what to expect? I already have some soreness in my affected eye and a little redness. My lid feels heavy, too. My doctor said...

Re: What causes the blurry vision?

I know exactly how you feel...so sorry. This really is a horrible thing. I wish there were some miracle cure discovered. One good thing is I started a new diet since this all happened. I had been whooping it up over the holidays eating lots of sugary treats and over indulging all kinds of bad foods ...

Re: What causes the blurry vision?

Hudsongirl, It sure is such an emotionally and physically draining condition! I feel like my body can turn on me at any moment and attack my eye :) Not a good feeling to say the least. I hope your doctor is able to shed some light on this for you. I just emailed my doctor letting him know how the ta...

Re: What causes the blurry vision?

Thanks for the info Vancouver. :) As for the Lotemax, he said I would be on it for a while. He wanted me to taper off of the oral first, then work on the drops. The achy eye is bothering me though. And I feel the lid is getting "heavy" and making me appear swollen. I am going to make an ap...

Most efficient Time of day to take oral Prednisone?

This may be a silly question but does it make sense to take Prednisone tablet before bedtime so that the steroids get to work and the inflammation is being addressed during the sleeping hours? I have been taking it first thing in the morning and this just occurred to me that perhaps it is better to ...

Re: What causes the blurry vision?

Last visit with doctor he said everything looked great, no synechiae, cells, etc. and told me to begin taper from 20mg pred to 10mg. He said to expect, in a couple of days, that my eye would probably get red and feel a bit achy for a couple of days as my body adjusted. It has been 2 days and beginni...
