Re: 2nd Bout of Iriitis in 6 Months

I think most of us with uveitis have some intermittent eye pain. Mine they say is dry eye now. You could get a second opinion. There is a fb group for uveitis as well. It is very active. Someone there might have a suggestion.

Re: I need help/directions/answers

Hi there. So sorry you are dealing with eye issues. I would definitely look for a uveitis specialist on the list on this forum. Many general opthos seem to not know the best way to treat us. The u eitis specialist can work with a rheumy if needed to get you on a better track.

Re: What to expect when tapering?

Yes, the lotemax ointment. Do you think maybe 15 mg is not enough oral pred to clear the eye? I was started on 40 mg. then 20 mg. then 17.5, 15, 12.5, 10, 7.5 and now 6. But, it has taken me 3 months to get here...very slow taper. How do you feel on the oral prednisone? Any side effects? I am really...

Re: What to expect when tapering?

That is what they told me the lotemax ointment was for...to keep symptoms from returning during the nite. Seemed to work for me. It is different from the drops. How much oral pred. Are you on now Marilyn? I am down to 6 mg. kinda worried about a flare as I go lower and lower. We have 2 trips planned...

Re: Multifocal choroiditis

Yes, i am seeing a specialist from the list...ocular immunologist. My eyes are currently quiet, but i am still very worried. This group is helpful, but pretty silent at times...and that makes me feel alone. Sometimes, i think I have read TOO much and need to stop. information is good, but can amp up...

Re: New diagnosis of Iritis

Hi there and welcome. Yes the info can definitely be overwhelming. At any rate if you can see one of the uveitis specialists listed i would highly recommend it. My GP was not at all helpful with iritis but I am now seeing an ocular immunologist who is great. Like you, i wasn't treated quickly...misd...

Re: Question about doctors

Hi there! I would definitely try to see the specialist at least for a consult. Maybe then you could take those tecommendations to a rheumy. The uveitis spevialists are so much more knowledgeable than regular opthos. I think you would feel it was money well spent.
