INFO NEEDED PLZ

Post by camgreeonwood9900 »

Hi my names cameron greenwood I was diagnosed with acute recurring iritis about 8 months ago. I've been taking the predforte 1% eye drops as well as dialator eye drops but my head aches and my eyes will not stop hurting. I have no form of insurance, so treatment is unavailable to me. The pain has become so bad that I can not hold down a job, and I was just wondering if anyone has any information on what I'm going to need to do to get disability and if I will even qualify?

getting disability would require permanent vision loss, blindness.
do you have a really bloody looking eye? this could be more than just iritis going on if yes. this might be from a virus if in just one eye. do you have a history of cold sores? is the iritis in only one eye? if yes, it might be from the herpes Simplex virus that causes cold sores to occur. this can be very painful. it would require an antiviral medication taken orally.

today there is no reason to go blind from this. if low income see if you could qualify for Medicade through your State. you need to be seen by an uveitis specialist usually located at major university hospitals. where do you live so that I can suggest one of them for you. another option is to go to http://www.uveitis.org about the support group section of the site and then look on the specialist list.
sometimes university hospitals can help pay for treatment if you fill out paperwork for assistance. the same is true for you local county hospitals.

wishing you the very best,
mike

well I live in Savannah GA. and its in both eyes. they get really red sometimes but that's only if im out of meds and the permanent eye damage has already happened i was told i had pink eye so i didn't get treatment for the right thing and i waited a long time and it got really bad.I spent about 4- days in the hospital then that's when i was told what i really had. the doctor that was helping me told me it was pretty bad and the my vision is 2200 what ever that means. So i have been trying to get on Medicaid/medicare but the people i talk to tell me i need to fill for ssi or disability to get what i need. That's why i'm asking about the disability so that i knew that i needed to do. they where in the middle of doing ,y blood work to figure out why its happening but i had to move to GA from Fla so i never got that finished no one knows why i have it.

can you get back to Florida for consult with an expert in uveitis? DR Janet Davis is at BAscom Palmer eye institute as is Dr Victor Perez.

Emory in Atlanta has pretty good doctors or DR Russel Read is at the U of A in Birmingham, Alabama.\

contact Social security for help with filling out forms for SSD. you will need that to get medicare and medicade from your state Dept of Health and Human Services. 20/200 is considered legally blind but your vision could improve if you can get the uveitis under control.

does anyone in you family have a history of inflammatory disease such as Sarcoidosis, Lupus, Multiple Sclerosis? have you been around animals? any exposure to individuals with TB?

wish you the best,
Mike
