Humira for 11 year old

Post by UVE-mom »

My 11 year old daughter is terrified of shots & was just prescribed humira for her uveitis every 2 weeks. Her dr stresses how painful the shot is & I can't figure out how we are going to give it to her. Please help, thanks!

ask the doctor to prescribe EMLA cream which deadens the tissue where you will inject the Humira. do the shot for her and tell her to keep her eyes closed and DON"T FLINCH as the needle can break off.

I am a diabetic and I have to put in a Canula for my insulin pump. I used to give myself 5 shots a day and i too was terrified about shots. it took about a week before I could do it without apprehension and anxiety.

many of us have anxiety and depression. talk to her doctor about drugs for this and it might make it easier to give the shot.

there is a parent support group at http://www.uosg.org that strongly urge you to join. the parents there have been there and done that with DMARD drugs and other classes of drugs like Humira.
you will have to Join YUKU but it doesn't cost. the reason is that they filter out SPAM postings and that is why we have to join this site as well.
we used to get a lot of pornography posted before we did this, I moderate forums for the parent's forum at http://www.uosg.org

wish you the very best,
\Mike
