Re: Tinted contact lenses & photophobia?
Dry eye impacts the cornea and photophobia can result and is the most common cause of photophobia.
I'd try to find a chat board about restasis and then purchase online but you MUST tell Professor A that you are doing this and get feedback from him.
yes I love smoked trout and Salmon. the best is steelhead trout for my taste. cold smoked is the best as it is very tender almost like Lox.
a brown sugar cure is very tasty on Salmon and trout if you have a smoker.
a gel type lubricating eyedrop put in at night (tends to blur vision) might go a long way in helping with the corneal dryness. we don't blink in our sleep so the eye doesn't stay moistened. we also don't blink enough while on the computer so make sure you put an effort into doing so.
Wish you the best,
Mike

Mike,
Never heard of or had steelhead trout. Generally brown or rainbow in the UK. Don't have a smoker either, usually buy smoked. Like most fish or any smoked fish.
Strange thing is my eye probably best at night, pain lowers when eye closed. Sometimes slightly sore when I wake up, never really sore. Eye seems to worsen, as day progresses & dependant on light exposure.
Regarding Restasis, from what I can gather, not good with everyone. Have tried a couple other websites relating specifically to dry eye conditions, SJ etc. Mixed responce with restasis use.
Will try punctal plugs first on both tear ducts. See how I get on.
Thanks again for all your advice.
George.

Restasis burns like heck until the surface of the eye damaged from the dry eye abrasion heals, usually a few weeks or so, it can also take about six months of continued use before the lacrimal glands start producing fluid once again.
good luck with the punctal plugs too. they ususually plug the upper puncta first, then add lower ones if required.
a Rainbow trout is a land locked Steelhead trout. the steelhead goes out to sea and returns to spawn and then goes back out to sea.
many of my friends smoke their own fish. we can get electric or gas smoker ovens here in the USA and Canada for under 100 dollars US.
we use various hardwood chips. the fruit woods depart an excellent flavor to the fish. you can also smoke other kids of meats for yourself
various recipes for brines can be gotten online. I have high blood pressure so I don't use a lot of salt.
Take care,
Mike

Thanks for the restasis info, may give it a try if plugs don't work. Had my lower one plugged for over six months, made no difference. Why he plugged the lower only? I have no idea. Not A, was previous specialist. May go with trying them both plugged.Mike Bartolatz wrote:Restasis burns like heck until the surface of the eye damaged from the dry eye abrasion heals, usually a few weeks or so, it can also take about six months of continued use before the lacrimal glands start producing fluid once again.

Steelhead trout = sea trout Got it now. Sea trout or salmon expensive to buy in the UK & very hard to catch in rivers. I am now eating allot of oily fish, inc salmon, tuna, mackerel. Besides Omega 3 being generally healthy to eat, thought it may also have some beneficial effects on my eye. No sign of that yet I live in hope.
Yummy, smoked fish.

The omega 3 fatty acids can help with dry eye so keep eating your favorite food.
I prefer the 'cold smoked' salmon as they are very tender much like Lox.
hope you can get the photophobia under control so that you can enjoy outings again.
Take care,
mike

Just bought myself a pair of bloc cat4 wrap around sunglasses. Owned a pair of bloc cat 3's for 5 years, originally used them when mountain biking. Best pair of wrap around glasses I've ever owned. Pay a bit more for them, but worth it & last ages. the frames are virtually unbreakable. Cat4 tint best for me on sunny days or even just to give my eye a rest indoors.
I'll let you know how I get along with the next specialist.
George.

Just been to see my GP, whom was very supportive. She suggested trying Sodium Cromoglicate (anti inflammatory eye drops), I will give them a try for a few weeks. I'll Hope for some improvement. Not tried any anti inflammatory drops, as yet. Only the pred drops, when I had the initial iritis flare. Since then, only artificial tear products.Mike Bartolatz wrote:I hope the sunglasses help you to cope with the bright lights. and I can empathize with you!

I don't know anything about the drops suggested by your primary care physician. look to see what preservative is in it though. Benzylkonium chloride is used as a preservative in many topical eyedrops and it can lead to ocular allergy (me) exacerbating dry eyes etc. that's why I always suggest one use eyedrops that don't have this in them, preservative free if possible.

Yes the eye drop does contain 0.01% Benzylkonium chloride preseritive, only giving these drops a try for a month. If they were to help, would ask for some pres free.
I think these drops are genrally used to treat Conjunctivitis or an allergy.
Thanks
