Second bout after a nine year rest

Post by The Arty One »

Hello all. I had really bad iritis in both eyes as a teenager, for around 3/4 years. When my both eyes finally were quiet enough to be discharged I was so happy. Last week I was diagnosed as having Iritis in my left eye, I was sent to eye casualty by my G.P after having cloudy vision. I was appalled at the lack of communication from the doctor who only talked when I asked questions. I guess it was the same last time when I had Iritis too.

I was very upset when I got Iritis again, but at least I now have a forum with others going through the same. I worry about the long term implications of all these drops on my eyes. I have a review appointment on Monday and if the doctor is rubbish again I may the specialist in London that people on here have recommended. I guess the impact of my condition is bigger this time as driving is a big part of my life and I don't feel comfortable doing it when my eye is dilated.

Welcome to the group!

sorry to learn of you past history of recurrent uveitis as a teenager as well as learning that it has how returned in your young adult life to complicate things.
if you haven't found them yet, get a pair of polarized wrap around sunglasses to wear outside to help with thephotophobia that you must have. if you wear glasses get some Fit over ones. (fit over your regular glasses). an online link to suppliers is available in our MEDICAL information forum. brown ones work well on overcast days and while on the computer. Green ones for sunny days and when sunligt is glaring off of snow, wet roads etc.
Mr William Ayliffe there in London is an EXCELLENT choice of Ocular Immunologist, he can be seen through referral within the NHS or privately. I just posted updated contact information in a general post to the SPECIALIST FORUM. the list of specialists is NOT maintained by me so the contact information may not be correct,

wish you the very best,
Mike
