I've battled with uveitis for about 2 years now. Numerous tests have not revealed anything except that I have extra blood vessels growing in my eyes - apparently a sign of not enough oxygen to the eyes. I quit going to the doctor I was going to because all I was getting from her was a new bill each visit (once a month). Is there a specialist near Lexington, KY?
Thanks!

Dr Kaplan is the only Expert in Ky. you can obtain contact information at http://www.uveitis.org in the patient information section of the site.
Vascularization of the retina can be related to various autoimmune disease processes and you need someone to look into potential relationships to uveitis. modern drugs like Macugen can be used to block Vascular Endothelial Growth Factor which causes the new bloodvessels to grow over the retina. this is being done for Diabetes patients and some with uveitis.
the best thing is to try to find the causal link between uveitis and vascularization of the retina and a possible disease process. Only a very skilled doctor who cares can do this. it might take some time to connect the dots so to speak but stopping further errosion of your vision is possible.
wishing you the very best,
Mike
PS: there is a patient questionaire available in a sticky note that will help guide your search. fill it out with immediate relatives listing all things you have had since childhood. if your parents are available to give input that is even better. consider all disease processes that IMMEDIATE family members have developed in your completion of the questionaire. msb
