I pray he can help you sir. he is a very caring doctor and person. I know you will like him and he is the best specialist in the UK in my Lay opinion. there are others in the UK also trained at Harvard but they just are not as good as professor A.
I still think you need to explore herpes virus as a cause of your eye problems. they can make a contact the is painted to look like your eye which helps to keep a lot of light out. talk to professor Ayliffe about this it will look like a normal constricted pupil instead of the large open one you now have. this will help with photophobia too. the fit over sunglasses are available at Motorcycle shops, find one there that fits and then buy them online and you can save a lot of money. write down the information on the Bows.
I use brown tinted sunglasses inside to cut glare and Yellow tinted driving glasses at night. some individuals find that blue or pink lenses help then for inside stuff.

Take care,
mike

Mike,
I'm using a cat 4 tint, usual sunglasses are cat 3. Cat 5 are welding goggles, extremely dark. I even suffer from pain wearing my cat 4 wrap around glasses, but make my day bearable. Providing I keep away from day light, especially direct or indirect sunlight. Has been this way for around 5 years. I also suffer from dry eyes, have all my tear ducts plugged, which help. Use artificial tears (additive free type), every 15 mins or so. I did try a pair of tinted contact lenses I purchased privately a few years back, but couldn't tolerate them due to my dry eyes.
I'm not expecting miracles, perhaps some understanding would be nice. My last Ophthalmologist said basically that it was now a physiological disorder I was suffering from. Would be a good idea for me to keep reducing the tint on my glasses, then I'll be OK. Which went down really well with me  As I'm quite aware when I'm experiencing pain or not. I started wearing cat 1’s, now at cat 4’s.
I will also mention the herpes virus when I go to see him.
I also suffer from Ankylosing Spondylitis, which I'm taking Humira for at the moment. Which fortunately seems to be helping with my AS.
I appreciate your kind words.
Many thanks.
