Indianapolis support group?

Post by kvezina »

Hi. I have a 21 year old daughter who has been battling Iritis for 2 years. She now has a cataract and intraocular hypertension controlled by diuretics. The diuretics make her want to sleep all day and she is a college student. I am wondering if anyone knows the process to see Dr. Stephen Foster or has another great recommendation of someone who can help us. We live in Indianapolis. Also, is there an Indianapolis Iritis support group? This has been a very challenging and frustating condition for us all.

you can make an appointment for DR Foster in Cambridge, MA by picking up the phone and calling his office at MERSI, the online website is http://www.uveitis.org

DR Dino Klisovic in Columbus, Ohio is a good ocular immunologist and retina specialist that you could take your daughter to. He trained under DR Foster BTW. If Michigan would be easier there is a specialist I can recommend there or Missouri or Illinois.

I do not know if there is a support group. I doubt it. Uveitis is pretty rare. the only one I know of is in Cambridge, MA USA or in Calgary, Alberta, Canada or Tucson, Arizona. there might be one in Salt lake city too.

is her uveitis bilateral or just in one eye?
did she have a history of urinary tract infections?
if yes, has she been checked for Tuberointerstitial Nephritis and Uveitis Syndrome? TINU?

if in one eye, does the pupil still work? if no, does she have a history of herpes virus cold sores on her mouth or nose?

let me know by posting to the general discussion forum.

wish you the best,
Mike
