vascularization of the retina and ciliary body occurs in many forms of uveitis, currently VEGFR blocking drugs such as Avastin are employed to stop new blood vessel growth as well as to treat Cystoid Macular edema.
many forms of cancer mentioned in this article also can cause uveitis. I don't know if this gene is active in uveitis with vascularization or if CD 276 is expressed in the various causes of cancer that masquerade as uveitis so it will be interesting to see if this is the case and if this could be used to treat some forms of vascularization ocurring in the eye.
