Macular oedema--ozurdex implant

Post by snath »

Hi all...I was diagnosed with iritis 10 years ago...It's been a roller coaster ride for me all these years..however August 2017 gave me the shock of my life..after an attack in July i visited my ophthalmologist who prescribed the regular medication.. predforte starting with 12 times a day tapered down to twice a day over a period of 6 weeks, cyclopent for dilation twice a day..I used the medication and even after one month Couldnt see any improvement in my blurred vision...however redness and photosensitivity were not there...so i visited my doctor again and she did a scan and said I HAVE MACULAR OEDEMA... i was to use oral steriods.. i didn't want to but just took the prescription and came home...I talked with my father -in-law who is a certified homeopathic doctor and since i have severe reaction to oral steroids we decided to try alternate medicine for my oedema(It was only my left eye) .i tried in vain for 3 months changing different homeopathic medicines ,talking over phone twice a day, recounting my symptoms but my system simply didnt respond to homeopathy in this case(i normally use it successfully for other ailments)anyway the vision detiorated and we visited another doctor .a uveitis specialist hhighly recommend ed...She took another scan and said i immediately have to undergo the procedure for an iimplant in my eye OZURDEX.. you can check about this online...i dont want to waste time and space...she could only guarantee that it will work for 3-4 months ..after that it depends on the individual...she couldnt say whether oedema will recur or not ;implant has to be put again or not...nothing was conclusive but i HAD to take it that time...i was scared would be an understatement... i researched and researched online... felt so terrified... i even fainted after the procedure... finally the healing process started..i was to take Azopt eyedrops twice daily to control the eyepressure...from Dec 2017 to August2018 i had no issues with my left eye...though right had attacks twice...i was visiting this uveitis specialist as per her orders..first it was monthly, then once in two months and finally in june she asked to come after three months i.e in September.. again in August 2018 i sensed thaty vision is not clear..i tried to prepone the appointment bu could see her in October as she was on leave...Anyway my macular oedema is back that's what she detected though it s not that high this time..so she started with Acular eyedrops 4 times a day and predforte from 8 times a day to 4 times a day...apparently there is inflammation in the anterior which i could not sense as there was no redness or photosensitivity..i am due for my appointment on Nov 15 2018 and i am worried that i have to undergo the procedure again...does someone has similar issues?please help me gain some insight

Why do some iritis patients get this swelling? Doesn't sound like your iritis is too bad unless you have had symptomless anterior inflammation for long period.
