Re: Extreme photophobia & looking for answers?

Mike, have made an appointment to see prof ayliffe back end of May. I'm hoping he can give me some answers, unlike most I've previously seen through the NHS. Going to see him at the Lister Hospital in London. Have gone the private route. I nearly gave up with specialists, as I've received such poor ...

Re: Fluorescent light problems

Angie,
I have paid alot of cash for cat 4 wrap around glasses in the past. Now using cat 4 safety glasses, look the same & provide the same light protection, just alot cheaper than designer ones

Re: Fluorescent light problems

Angie, Sorry to hear that your struggling with light at the moment. I have suffered from photophobia within my right eye now for around 5 years, since an irirtis flare. I find wearing cat 4 wraparound sunglasses both indoors & out helps me get through the day 8) I too work, part time now. I have...

Re: Extreme photophobia & looking for answers?

http://www.goodglasses.com/jonathanpaulfitovers.html Thanks for the further info. In your opinion do you still think Prof A is the best guy in the U.K to see? I did see him at Croyden around 4 years ago & he did say at the time he would be happy for me to come back. May be worth myself giving i...

Re: Extreme photophobia & looking for answers?

Mike, At the moment I don’t need prescription lenses to see, just the extra dark tint for the light. I will probably look into buying some custom made wraparound sunglasses. Which are not cheap, neither do the cat 4's seem to be in wrap around style. The over glasses seem a great idea, to wear over ...

Re: UK MEMBERS, POST HOW YOU GOT TO A SPECIALIST HERE

I live in the U.K. I also have seen Dr Ayliffe at London around 4 years ago. I followed links from this website, my G.P referred me at the time. As I live within the North East part of the U.K. Dr Ayliffe based at London. Not sure if the G.P referral route is possible now. I think it is possible for...

Mike, Your right about life goes on, think i'm just starting to come to terms with it. I was 40 when I had my first & only flare (so far). Any future improvement, I shall post again. I find the dark grey tink the best to live with, also use dark brown too. Have you found any other colour tinted ...

Re: Extreme photophobia & looking for answers?

Mike, That's interesting to know, that you still can suffer from photophobia, even when active inflammation not present. After an iritis flare. Not that I want you too. None of my previous specialists have took the time to explain that to me or even to tell me that this was a possibility. As I'm now...

Extreme photophobia & looking for answers?

Have not posted for a couple of years now, still looking for answers. I suffered from my first ever ititis flare, around 4.5 years ago now. Re: Tinted contact lenses & photophobia?

I don't know anything about the drops suggested by your primary care physician. look to see what preservative is in it though. Benzylkonium chloride is used as a preservative in many topical eyedrops and it can lead to ocular allergy (me) exacerbating dry eyes etc. that's why I always suggest one u...

Re: Tinted contact lenses & photophobia?

The omega 3 fatty acids can help with dry eye so keep eating your favorite food. I prefer the 'cold smoked' salmon as they are very tender much like Lox. hope you can get the photophobia under control so that you can enjoy outings again. Take care, mike Mike, Just bought myself a pair of bloc cat4 ...
