Re: Tinted contact lenses & photophobia?

Mike, I've only had the paper test done on both eyes. My effected eye was very dry on test. Sometimes I suffer from a dry mouth too. NHS care not too advanced here in the UK, so never been offered any other test. I did let Dr Ayliffe know about my dry eyes, he just said continue on with my additive ...

Re: Tinted contact lenses & photophobia?

Mike, Spent most of today ringing around local opticians to see if they could fit me a pair of bespoke tinted lenses, after phoning eight. I managed to find an independent that could make me a pair lenses  Going on Sat to start the fitting process off. Looking forward to being able to walk outs...

Re: Tinted contact lenses & photophobia?

Mike, Yes travelled down to Croydon to see him, was worth wile. He suggested tinted contacts for me, to manage my photophobia. I have now had to wear sunglasses continually for the last two years, well apart when I'm asleep  As far as I can gather no inflammation present. I am now left with a p...

Re: Iritis in ankylosing spondylitis patients

Clarksing, Sorry to hear that your struggling at the moment. I too suffer from AS, from the age of 21, not diagnosed until 25 (not uncommon). I have also had an iritis flare, now suffering from the after affects. Have you tried wearing wrap around sunglasses whilst at work? Cat 4, best for me. I hav...

Tinted contact lenses & photophobia?

I had my first ever iritis flare within my right eye two years ago. The iritis has now cleared up, but I'm now left with photophobia. Now have to wear sunglasses indoors & now. After a recent visit to see an Uveitis Specialists at London (600 mile round trip), he suggested tinted contact lenses....

Re: Anyone else get iritis at regular intervals?

To be honest it's my first ever flare & I'm 40 years young. Hope it's my last. Inflammation seems to be at a lower level now, but my affected pupil still dilated, sensitive & sometimes painful. still taking pred drops, finding it very hard to come off those completely now. My flare started ...

Re: Iritis has become chronic

George, you re HLA B27 positive and that is the reason you have uveitis. you really don't need any more tests done. you need someone to implement a steroid sparing approach. drugs such as Celebrex, dolobid etc added to your routine might be able to get you off all steroids without inflammation. oth...

Re: Anyone else get iritis at regular intervals?

Hi all, Every once in a while I get a bout of iritis in one of my eyes stemming from my ankylosing spondylitis, and recently I thought I'd take a look at when I've had them. I've posted my instances of iritis below: Spring 2000 Autumn 2001 Spring 2003 Autumn 2004 Spring 2006 Autumn 2007 Looking at ...

Re: Iritis update & advice?

There is one hell of big difference between an Ocular Immunologist who is an opthalmologist and a routine opthalmologist. the regular opthalmologist is not trained to treat uveitis related to systemic disease or autoimmune disease or some of the pathogens that can cause this stuff. an ocular immuno...

Re: Iritis update & advice?

HI George, have you had imaging tests done on your retina to look for problems? did your eye pressure ever go UP with the treatment which could explain why this change has occured? can you get into a retina specialist or Ocular Immunologist for consultation? I can't comment on switch to Humira as I...
