Personally, i would try to get some testing done. It appears if you have several family members with the same condition, it would most likely have a genetic componenent. Are there any other conditions/diseases present in your or your family members? For instance, I have iritis associated with juveni...

There is nothing I know of that can take the place of steroid drops, as far as OTC meds. There is no way you can get samples? I went in to an optometrist to get tested for lens changes for my glasses and walked out with samples of several drugs i take, full size bottles, no less. I think Mike's sugg...

Go to www.uveitis.org. There is a lot of information to search for and print out there that should be helpful. I can't imagine why they would want you to wait for you to have these issues for a period of 2 years. people can have a lot of damage done in that amount of time. From what I ahve been told...

Mike, is it possible there is some "flare" that is making the poster's vision cloudy? I kow that when i did hgave flareups, my eyes would be cloudy for a period of time due to the protein and other debris still floating around inmy eyes. It took a couple of weeks, and then I was fine.... J...

I would ask your doctor, but I would think that it would not be indicated in patients with uveitis. I am sure the stress to the eye could cause a flareup, and if there is any active inflammation, the surgery should not be done anyway. i think the risk would be too great, personally, but check with y...

It depends on the severity of your inflammation. You should try to find out how much inflammation you have, as well as what the pressure is in your eye.

Good luck, let us know if you ahve any more questions, and how your next appointment goes.

Hi. Just wanted to welcome you to the group. . Many patients here notice that stress can bring on a flareup, but stress is not a cause of iritis directly. Have you been tested for any underlying conditions that may be present, as iritis is seen in autoimmune disease, some viral coditions, and trauma...

hi. The effects of homatropine can last for days, according to one website, anywhere from a few hours to 4 days in some cases. So, if you are using the medicine during a flare, your eyes would be dilated the whole time. The reason they use dilators is so that if the pupil does adhere to the lens, it...

Hi Sharon, A lot of the people here and at other sites are "worst case scenarios". People who have only had uveitis once and then it never bothers them again don't really need support groups. They get the info they need and then move on. those of us who are still here are here because we h...

Everyone is different as far as how they react to treatment and how much inflammation there is in the eye. What seems like a large amount to someone may only be a little to someone else, it is all about our experiences. I have run the gammett with all of these medications. 4 drops a day is common fo...

My opthalmologist has me look up and away from where the needle is going. I try to focus on something on the ceiling so I don't move. You just feel a bit of pressure as the fluid goes in, and for a period of time aftewards. You also may experience double vision for a short period of time, so i don't...
