I had my cataracts repaired about 2 yrs after my initial diagnosis. As Mary said, sometimes a uveitis specialist is best, but I'm sure that the logistics can be a lot to handle, especially if you are 6-8 hrs away from one. Good luck w/everything!

Re: cataract AFTER iritis?
Hello! I do not know much about fibrinous iritis, but I am also HLA-B27 positive, and have had anterior uveitis since 2006, when I was initially diagnosed at the age of 26. I developed cataracts from prolonged used of steriods to control the inflammation from kenalog injections, and pred forte eyedr...

Re: Have you had cataract surgery?
Hi Mike,
Can you elaborate a little bit on your previous post about 2 years of immunomodulation once off steroids? Do you mean it takes that long to find the correct dose, or to get the eyes quiet?
Thanks,
Jacqueline

Re: Have you had cataract surgery?
Hi Pam, I am taking 1000 mg Cellcept twice a day. I have had great results, no side effects, effectively controlling my uveitis, so that is great. I was taking Methotrexate before I started Cellcept, which didn't work for me, Cellcept is the 2nd immunosuppressive drug I have tried. Like I said befor...

Re: I Finally FInished My Book
Congratulations Mary! I don't post often, (and usually only when I have a flare or questions), but wanted to wish you luck. I appreciate the sentiment in your post about pursuing dreams and goals. Too often I get bogged down in my own worries and concerns and don't realize all the things that I can ...

Re: Have you had cataract surgery?
Hello! I have had cataract surgery on both of my eyes, my left about a yr ago, and in my right a yr and a half ago. I was very concerned about the procedure, too, but I had no problems, and most importantly, no flares from it. I have had anterior uveitis for almost 4 yrs, and have been on Cellcept f...

Thanks for the reply Mary. I did go back and read your previous post about cataract surgery and that actually helped quite a bit. I know that it is fear of the unknown and if I'm going to worry it should be about the possible aftermath! :) All of the people that I have spoken to have said that they ...
