I was taking 40mg of prednisone a day for AIR. 5 mg does not sound like nearly enough.

Welcome to this forum. In one respect, you're lucky they were able to diagnose you so you can attempt to get the drugs you need. I have AIR and it is not a fun disease.I'm currently using rituxan (rituximab). Feel free to ask any questions here.

That is definitely the right idea, Mike. Go to the ER definitely if it happens again. Yo ur family history certainly would make you sit up and take notice when it comes to vision issues.
