Re: VItamin D and Iritis

I was tested for the HLA B27 gene and many other things back in May of 2009 when my iritis had gone 6 weeks with just a few clear days here and there. Would it make sense to be retested for it now? NSAIDS only masked the pain and then suddenly I'd have blurry vision, go the opthomalogist and find ou...

VItamin D and Iritis

Hi, I've had uncontrolled iritis from April 2009 until November 2010. Only once in that period did i go more than 3 weeks without a bad(always level 3 or 4 and in both eyes or ping-ponging between both eyes) flare up and that was when i was on durezol but it raised my IOP so high that my doc won't l...

Thank you- that is what my daughter's pediatrician said. I will check with my doctor when I see him next week.

Cellcept and live vaccines

I'll ask the eye doc when I see him next week but was wondering if you knew if I should avoid people who have recently had a live vaccine while I am on cellcept( I have not yet started on it). My child is due for a chicken pox shot and her pediatrician doesn't want to give it to her until I have cle...

Re: Any luck with Naproxen?

Thank you. My IOP was 30 for both eyes today so I started the Alphagan. SO far it isn't bothering me (and I was quite amazed that it got rid of the redness immediately). My left eye was "+ 3 1/2" today and my right was a +plus 1, so I am back on pred drops. He's going to give it a little m...

Re: Any luck with Naproxen?

Hi Mike, thank you for the thoughtful reply. I did test neg for HLA B27. My last flare up they put me on durezol and my pressure went to 40, so they tapered me off on pred forte m which hasn't caused pressure probs for me in the past. I didn't take the alphagan drops for the pressure b/c of side eff...

Any luck with Naproxen?

Any luck with Naproxen? Hi, well, the kenalg injections bought me about 6 weeks of quiet this fall and then my left and then my right eye flared up and are still flaring. I've been told to take naproxen 500 mg twice a day and if that doesn't help get me off steroids, then Dr. Hinkle reccommends meth...

Re: Injection side effects question

Sorry to keep pestering you about these damn shots. I was wondering if lightheadedness could be a side effect of the kenalog shots. My doctor says no, but i can't think of anything elese that could be causing this and it started about 4 days after my second shot, a week after my first shot. I guess ...

Re: Injection question

Thanks, Mike. I had the injection on Thursday--the fear leading up to it was much worse than the actual injection--the betadine stung a LOT and the eye clip was uncomfortable but the shot itself was painless. The thing is, the doctor didn;t tell me that part of the white of my eye would turn blood r...

Injection question

So, after 4 1/2 months of uncontrolled iritis, I am scheduled for a periocular steroid injection Thurs. The doctor told me that he consulted with Dr. Hinkle and they agreed that it;s either this or oral steroids. My concern is that the doc who is scheduled to do it is new. Not just new to the practi...

Re: Ibuprofen?

Hi, just found out that I can see Dr. Hinkle in the Albany office, but not till October. I started the ibuprofen but skipped a few drops one day and had a huge flare up in my left eye, so am back onthe drops every two hours. My dco said that if the falre isn't gone in another week, they may want to ...

Re: Well I'm into Durezol now

i had iritis for almost three straight months with just a few days here and there of "quiet". I took durezol in late May and it did clear things up very quickly and for almost a month my eyes were pretty calm, but my eye pressure started going up (it was in the the teens with pred forte an...

Ibuprofen?

Hi, I've had bilateral iritis since early April of this year. I went to have my retina checked b.c I have a history of thinning in my left retina. The night after my exam, I had a lot of pain and redness, but figured it was from the exam. Three days later the pain was so bad I called and asked to be...
