Wow, a lot of what you wrote was me, years ago, before finding Mike and a few others.... I am 35 now, was diagnosed at age 2 with JRA (JIA) and at age 4 was diagnosed with iritis. Many many many bottles of Pred forte later, I had cataracts. So, at 17, i went to college with sight in one eye only, eh...

Hi, welcome to the group! I was dxed with Juvenile-Onset Rheumatoid Arthritis at the age of 2, and the iritis reared it's ugly head at age 4. My JRA has never really been severe, and since the age of 18 (I am now 35), I have had no symptoms from the arthritis. JRA-related iritis is typically VERY st...

Lotemax is not as bad as Pred Forte. When I do use drops, I can wean off Pred Forte very quickly and then I go to Lotemax for a little while. Prednisone eye drops can cause glaucoma and cataracts, so it should be a concern, but my OI has told me that Lotemax is not as damaging as the other steroid d...

Just so you are aware, Remicade is not typically curative. you will need to be on it longterm. While i am happy I ahve been in remission for more than a year now,I know that if I go off my meds that it will most likely come back. I am planning on becoming pregnant in the summer or fall, and after th...

Hi, i'm Jess. I developed uveitis at age 4 as a result of JRA that wsa dxed at the age of 2. No real joint progression, one surgery at 17 on R knee, and no flreups of the disease since then. i am now 34. MUCH different story for my iritis though. From the age of 4, through my 20s I was on oral predn...

Hi Debbie, I had this problem, and it was treated only when I had cataract surgery and they broke the adhesions to the lens. Fast forward 10 years, I have some minor adhesions to the lens impant, so I have a pupil that looks like a keyhole. Unfortunately, i don't think there is a way to treat it wit...

Hi, when were you first diagnosed with uveitis/JRA? I was diagnosed at aghe 2 with JRA and age 4 with iritis. I had low grade inflammation throughout high school and college that was slowly taking away my vision, by just being treated with steroids. I finally found a specialist who has made a world ...

It depends. When my first eye doc put me on them, as a child/young adult, he put me on 40mg til the inflammation went down and then tried to taper me down completely, but it never worked, and I wound up on 10-20mg for many years until I found a specialist who prescribed a steroid-sparing approach fo...

Hi, and welcome to the group. I can't answer if the iritis could have not gone away since I am not a doctor. I can tell often before my doctor when i am flaring up. It is possible for the inflammation not to show up for several days after you notice it. Certain vitamins can affect iritis negatively....

What is the cause of your uveitis? How long have you had no symptoms? Because I have iritis related to JRA, things of that nature would not work for me. I think it is best to seek the advice of a doctor in matters like this. There are many alternative medications that actually would make uveitis wors...
