Re: Cortosone injections in the eye for pan uveitis

Hi, There! Pan uveitis can be scary- I started out with Intermediate Uveitis in 2004, and by 2006, it had become Pan Uveitis, and I had several of these shots. Take tylenol before your appointment, and have an ice pack ready- one of those gel eye masks is awesome for this, because sometimes the shot ...

Re: What should I say to ophthalmologist?

Megabyte- Dry eyes result from the preservatives in almost every eye drop, as well as steroid drops. It can be a real bear to treat, and having dry eyes can cause further irritation of the eyes, increasing light sensitivity. YOu can get over-the counter drops for dry eyes that don't have preservativ...

Re: What should I say to ophthalmologist?

Hi, there! Proffessor Ayliffe is pretty great. Another place you can go to find information, as well as current contact details for a specialist in the UK is: http://www.oliviasvision.org/ This organization is UK-based, and they are really great folks there, who can help a lot. Proffessor Ayliffe is...

Good News for those who miss their BOOKS!

Good News Folks! While going thru the process of my novel being published, I learned that Kindle e Reader are text-to speech enabled! I have missed READING books for years- that's part of why I write them. I don't particularly care for the choices in the catalogs handed out by the library service fo...

Re: Tinted contact lenses & photophobia?

George, Very glad you got the lenses. Have you ever had cataract surgery? I would be interested to know, because I have had it. If I could wear a contact, rather than my VERY large and heavy spectacles, I would look into it. My spectacles are actually so heavy, they cause me nasal/sinus problems...A...

Re: I Apologise for my Absence

Mike, Exactly. I don't get angry with the commenters most of the time. Every once in a while, I get pushed a little too far, because the attacks get a bit personal. That particular atricle was the first such avalanche I ever started. I admit to being a bit surprised. I have had negative comments, bu...

Re: I Apologise for my Absence

Hi, Mike! After a long day of being absolutely vilified for telling the truth, it feels good to come here and not be judged. Today's post started quite the angry avalanche at my work. Tomorrow will not be better. The way I keep my contract, however, is to be provacative, to tell the truth, and to ma...

I Apologise for my Absence

Hi, Yall, lately. I have been remiss in my position as moderator. The reasons for this are many. First, and foremost, even in this economy, I have found work as a writer, after roughly six yeears of being so unstable in my vision and other health matters, that I could not work. Lately, I have found ...

Seija-

It may be weeks before the meds are fully out of your system and vision recovers, esp. w/ dilating drops. That can be up to 6 or even 8 weeks. Take it slow, don't rush. Get some rest. It helps.

Re: Negative change in vision prescription

Once all meds are out of your system, vision should improve. Some folks NEVER have an answer to their issue. I still don't have a definitive answer, only blindness from undertreatment in both eyes, and a lot of joint pain, despite Humira. Am going to buy splints for my wrists this week. Good luck! M...

Sheila- Yes, YOu can publish this link. It does send the seeker directly to the article, so you aren't stealing. In fact, you would be helping me. I think that vision loss affects our ability to dream only to the extent we allow it do so. OK, I'll never drive in the demolition derby. I can help afri...

Re: New to Iritis and this forum

Hi, You may never get a specific underlying diagnosis to your Uveitis. Make certain that you pay attention to your color vision, as well. Can you see blue? Green? Red? Purple? Tell pink from orannge? This is an important clue to the health of your retina, and your eyes in general. Many people are ne...

Re: Brand new to uveitis diagnosis

I don't know of anyone, either. Get in touch with your local Lion's Club, and ask what they can do. Use info from this site, as well as UOSG ( Uveitis Online Support Group), to help you explain how dangerous this disease is. If they can't help, they may know someone who can help. If not, try arrangi...
